Understanding how to write an affirmation begins with understanding the affirmation process. An affirmation is meant to help you grow or succeed in an area that you have been having difficulties in.

Affirmations should be used to help lift yourself up, improve your self esteem, Help you overcome bad habits and negative feelings. Help redirect negative self-talk or the negative energy that is generated when you are focused on the negatives of others. Affirmations help build your confidence, motivation and productivity.

Affirmations, like any memory work is most effective when it is spoken word, written word and attached to visualizations. When partnered with reflection, meditation and introspection, affirmation work can be a powerful tool in goal setting and manifestation.

A regimen of affirmation work each morning is an excellent foundation for your day. When you start a day by building yourself up you are on solid footing. Then throughout the day use affirmations when creepy crawly negative thoughts start to inch their way in.

How to Write an Affirmation Statement

Writing affirmations is a personal process, just grab a pen and pad and start writing. Your list can always be edited. What areas are you strong in? What areas do you want to be stronger in?

  • Smart Goals assert that they must be “achievable”. So a good start is to write down your goals in positive statements. Goals that are achievable. Start with goals that you have the power to control. I am kind, I am loving. I am energetic. I am joyful. Etc Etc

  • Write your affirmations in the present tense. I am, I do, I have. Don’t be shy here. I am successful, I make good financial choices, Money flows to me from unexpected sources. I can get the job of my dreams, I have the job of my dreams,

  • Turn negatives into positives. If you are the person who pokes fun at yourself every-time a negative occurs or sabotages your successes with your own negative talk. Try making those negatives , positive statements. Workplace problems? I am fulfilled by my job. I have the job of my dreams. Work is a place I feel safe and appreciated. I am successful, I am confident, I am capable.

Examples of Affirmations

As I said earlier, affirmations are a VERY personal thing. Below are some examples that have been important in my life at various times. Feel free to use any of these that speak to you but also ponder some more personal affirmations.

  • I am worthy.

  • I can handle anything that comes my way.

  • I am successful in business.

  • I have the job/career of my dreams.

  • I attract money.

  • I am organized.

  • I easily find new opportunities to grow.

  • I am strong.

  • I am toned and healthy.

  • I'm bringing a positive attitude to work every day.

  • I am excellent at what I do.

  • New opportunities just appear for me.

  • Money flows my way from unexpected sources.

  • I know what the right decisions are for me and I powerful chose them.

  • I am am worthy of love and respect.
